Summary
To commemorate Bloomsday on 16 June, Yanky asks: Who was the role model for James Joyce’s fictional half-Jewish character Leopold Bloom in Ulysses? Some experts say Bloom is based on characters that Joyce met when he lived in Trieste. Others claim that Bloom is based closer to home—in the Jewish community of Dublin.
