Reynaldo Hahn (1874–1947) composed some of the most exquisite and widely performed songs in the French repertoire. He was also a fine composer of chamber music and music for the theatre. Surviving the controversies of the Dreyfus Affair and the persecutions of the Occupation, he lived an extraordinary life. Lover and lifelong friend of Marcel Proust, he was also the confidant of some of the most beautiful and talented women of his era.
