How to watch

This lecture starts on 15 March at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Paul Misraki’s (1908–98) hilarious song “Tout va très bien, Madame la marquise” encapsulated the disastrous political situation of Europe in the 1930s. His songs were recorded by all the great performers of the period, and after World War II he became the composer of choice for the film directors of the “New Wave.”
