How to watch

This lecture starts on 15 December at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Kaiser Wilhelm II was a strange and troubled man who led his country to world war in 1914. He was half British through his English mother, whom he blamed for his withered hand. By war’s end, power had leached away from him to the German generals, and it came as no surprise that in the moment of defeat he was driven from his throne.
